The Violent Youth

Bio

Founded in Minsk, Belarus, and based since 2017 in Augsburg, Germany, The Violent Youth is an unmistakably unique new wave, post-punk duo led by talented Belarussian singer, visual artist, and multi-instrumentalist Arthur Tsymbal. Live, the band plays as a duo, with Julian Riegel on bass. Starting its ascent from the Minsk underground post-punk scene, TVY entered Europe with confidence, moving to Germany and sharing the stage with new German artists such as Drangsal and Edwin Rosen. Since their inception, The Violent Youth have released several DIY music videos, independently released singles and two albums, garnering new fans in Germany and all over the world.

Their third LP, 2020’s “Tam, Gde Nas Net” (The grass is always greener on the other side) saw a new, darker turn in the band’s sound and message. Tsymbal deals with everyday topics such as love, distance between people, and loss – but at the same time manages to capture a silver lining; a quiet but strong hope for change. The music, too, left its new wave roots and leaned heavily on a darker, more brooding sound rooted in the post-punk and darkwave gothic scene of the early 1980s.
